Belle Bridal #WeddingWednesday – A Linden Hall Wedding

16-840x560We were over the moon to see our very own bride, Laura, and her new husband Peter, featured in the Belle Bridal #WeddingWednesday Real Weddings.

9-840x560Our bride and groom wanted a Las Vegas theme but asked to keep their stationery romantic yet fun – and with a palette of dusky pinks, metallic foil rose gold and grey, we feel this was definitely achieved.

My New Office

So as it’s a new year and all, I thought it was about time I updated my office and gave it a good spring (winter) clean. I had been working in an un-inspirational office space for too long. I like to be surrounded by things that inspire me and also, nice clean, white walls – so out came the paint.

As I was tidying my office and creating space, I started to make a pile of my notebooks. Can anyone have ‘too many’ notebooks?? I love stationery and always find myself buying pretty notebooks and adding them to my collection – some so pretty that I never intend to actually write in them.

My newest to the collection is from an Australian company called Kikki.K – absolutely gorgeous, Swedish inspired designs for stationery and gifts. I first stumbled across them when I was in Sydney and have followed them ever since.

I noticed that my pin board had so many things pinned to it, that it was neither useful nor easy to use. I wanted to create a ‘mood wall’ where I could pin all my ideas and inspirations. On looking for a pin board this size, I realised it would be easier to build this myself – therefore getting the perfect size and shape for my wall. All it took was some mount board, some cork tiles and a bit of No nails! I think some ribbon edging will finish it off perfect.

I also wanted to put some pictures on my wall, but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for. Whilst I’m still looking for that perfect picture, I’m always on Pintrest looking at inspirational quotes & phrases for future greeting cards. I decided to buy some plain black frames and create simple quotes to put up on my wall. Cheap as chips and I have some creative ‘artwork’. I might even use some of these for some greeting cards.

Quite pleased with myself. Just call me Kirsty Allsop! I’m now off to bake a cake 🙂

I had a dream…

So it may be a week into 2013, but I thought now was a good time to reflect on the past year and to look back on all those lovely people I designed for in 2012.

A huge thank you goes out to all my customers – those who tied the knot, the couples that are busy planning their big day, the yummy mummies and their little bundles of joy, the birthday girls & boys – happily my list does go on.

Ive realised I haven’t written my blog for some time, however, the past year has, although successful, has been a bit of a whirlwind and a huge career change. it has meant though, that I have been able to give my all in setting up Victoria’s Paperie as a registered business, a dream that I’ve had for years.

Now my dream is a reality – I can proudly say that I’ve created some of my best work yet,  perfect bespoke designs and some beautiful stationery. I’ve done my first ever wedding fair, and tripled my Facebook and Twitter followers.  You could say the dream has been quite successful so far.

Here are a few of my best bits from 2012….

Stay tuned for my next blog and the good things to come in 2013

Thanks for reading,

After successfully setting up my facebook page, and eventually joining the world of twitter, I thought it was about time I started my blog. Its very early days but I hope to use my blog to document my journey in the exciting life of starting up business.

After being made redundant after 8 years in my job as a graphic designer, for a reasonably sized company, I decided it was the perfect time and opportunity to pull my finger out and turn my hobby/passion/obsession of greeting cards and stationery into my own business. Working for me.

I’m not going to lie, it’s not easy and its pretty scary, but after much guidance, encouragement and a gentle push, I’m very excited to say that Victoria’s Paperie is officially open for business.

So whether you are looking for a sassy eighteenth birthday card, a christening invite for the new bambino or a wedding table plan – my designs are all individual and perfect for occasions that require the personal creative touch.

Come and see me at my first Christmas fair on Sunday 11th December at Ewan Bramley Dental practice, North Shields. I’ll be showcasing my new Christmas designs, wedding stationery, along with a few new stationery ideas for the new year.
